[1 Peter Devotional Challenge Day #4]
As I write this today, I thought it was a really beautiful day outside so I decided to sit outside and enjoy the weather. I am just so thankful for such a beautiful world we live in. There are days where I just feel like everything is working against me but there are also days where peace just comes in the cracks of our hearts reminding us of an eternal hope. God is with us. What a beautiful reminder.
Let’s jump in starting at 1 Peter 1:6-9
“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for now. These trials show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold. Though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. Though you have not seen Him, you love Him. Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory obtaining the outcome of your faith and the salvation of your souls.” -1 Peter 6-9
The life of being in a relationship with Christ is not always easy. Some tend to believe being a Christian means to have a life without hardships. Not necessarily true. It can be the opposite of easy. People are being persecuted and killed for their faith, some lose everything but still trust in Jesus. Some struggle with guilt, addiction, anger, brokenness, loss, grief and many other things. Christ has come to heal yet, some of these very trials people go through can be a process of strengthening a person’s faith in Christ; molding a person to be more like Jesus. It is exactly what Peter writes about in 1 Peter 1:7 where he explains, “These trials show that your faith is genuine, It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold…” When gold is found, it is dirty and is covered in gunk. Yet, when it is placed in the fire, the heat burns the gunk away and shines up the gold. Trials do exactly the same thing to our hearts. God is the potter and we are the clay. He is molding our hearts in who He created us to be. It is a tough and painful process with many hardships. In the end, your heart will be pure gold, shined under God’s care. When one clings to faith till the very end and enter heaven, they will be showered with honor, glory and praise as Jesus speaks, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” –Matthew 25: 21
“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him. Though you do not now see Him, you believe in Him and rejoice with a joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory obtaining the outcome of your faith and the salvation of your souls.” -1 Peter 1:8-9
It is a challenge to believe in something that we cannot see. It takes faith. You, my dear friends have taken on that faith to believe. Rejoice! You are stronger than you realize. Faith leads to joy and salvation. It opens the door to our spiritual eyes to see God for who He is, The King of Glory.
My friends, the trials of fire you are going through today are preparing you for an eternity of glory and joy tomorrow. Keep your head up and have faith.
Day #4 Completed.
Have a beautiful day!
